The Simple Life Is a Good Life

Our Dog Training Services in Lavalette, NJ

Some of the happiest families I meet aren’t looking for a dog that performs tricks.

They want a dog that feels like home.

A dog that enjoys quiet mornings.

Peaceful walks.

Time on the porch.

Neighborhood conversations.

Family dinners.

The simple moments often become the best memories.

I’m John Wasilishen, owner and Master Trainer of ProDogK9.

Since 1993, I’ve been helping New Jersey families enjoy more of those moments through private, personalized at-home dog training that builds communication, confidence, and lifelong relationships.

Welcome to the ProDogK9 State of Mind.

Every Dog. Every Time.

Everyday Life Is the Real Test

The most valuable training doesn’t happen during an hour-long lesson.

It happens afterward.

When your dog waits politely while you answer the front door.

Walks calmly through the neighborhood.

Settles while friends visit.

Comes when called in the backyard.

Those are the moments that change everyday life.

That’s why every lesson takes place where your dog actually lives.

Breed Spotlight: Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier

Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers are cheerful, affectionate, and full of personality.

They love people.

They love activity.

And they sometimes greet both with a little too much enthusiasm.

With clear communication and consistent expectations, Wheatens become wonderful family companions who keep their playful spirit while developing calm, reliable manners.

Success Story – Seamus Learned to Slow Down

Seamus, a young Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier from Lavallette, believed every day was a celebration.

Visitors were greeted with flying paws.

Walks became a zigzag adventure.

Even quiet evenings were filled with excitement.

His family loved his joyful personality.

They simply wanted everyday life to feel a little easier.

We focused on calm communication inside the home.

Polite greetings.

Loose-leash walking.

Relaxing after play.

Week by week, Seamus discovered that slowing down didn’t make life less fun.

It made it more enjoyable.

Today he’s still the first one to greet visitors.

He just does it with four paws on the floor and a wagging tail.

Featured Client Review

“John helped us realize that Seamus didn’t need to lose his personality—he needed direction. He’s still the happy dog we fell in love with, but now our walks are relaxing, our guests enjoy visiting, and our whole family feels more connected.”

Fresh FAQs

My dog gets too excited when visitors arrive. Can that really change?

Yes. Calm greetings are one of the most common skills I teach, and they’re practiced in the place where they actually happen—your home.

Do playful breeds lose their personality during training?

Not at all. My goal is to preserve your dog’s personality while helping them make better choices.

Is at-home training better than a group class?

For many families, yes. We work on your real routines, your real distractions, and your real goals.

Can older dogs still learn new habits?

Absolutely. Dogs continue learning throughout their lives when communication is clear and consistent.

What makes ProDogK9 different?

For more than 30 years, I’ve focused on helping families build relationships through communication, creating results that last well beyond the final lesson.

The Best Moments Are the Everyday Ones

A calm walk.

A quiet evening.

A relaxed family gathering.

Those moments may seem ordinary.

They’re actually what make life with a great dog so extraordinary.

For more than three decades, I’ve been helping New Jersey families enjoy more of those moments.

I’d love to help yours.
